Cite Fieldmark
Citation is how we learn that the software is useful. If you use Fieldmark®, we would greatly appreciate the citation. It also puts your project into the evidence other researchers read when they choose a platform. We will add any reference you send us to the Publications list.
How to cite
Cite Fieldmark as software, naming the version you used:
Ross S, Ballsun-Stanton B, Cassidy S, Crook P, Sobotkova A, Baker P and the FAIMS Project contributors 2026. Fieldmark (built on FAIMS3). Version 1.6.3. Electronic Field Notebooks. https://github.com/FAIMS/FAIMS3
In BibTeX:
@software{fieldmark,
author = {Ross, Shawn and Ballsun-Stanton, Brian and Cassidy, Steve and
Crook, Penny and Sobotkova, Adéla and Baker, Peter and
{The FAIMS Project contributors}},
title = {Fieldmark (built on FAIMS3)},
version = {1.6.3},
year = {2026},
month = sep,
license = {Apache-2.0},
url = {https://github.com/FAIMS/FAIMS3}
}
Change the version to the one you actually used, and the citation key to whatever suits your bibliography. If you are not sure which version you ran, ask us and we will tell you.
Repository citation file
Fieldmark is built on FAIMS3, an open-source platform, and the source is public at github.com/FAIMS/FAIMS3. The repository page offers the citation directly, in plain text and BibTeX, and reference managers read the file.
Where we compile citations
Published work that cites or credits Fieldmark or FAIMS Mobile is listed on Publications, with the date, the DOI, and a link, alongside the reports and repository records that credit the software without citing a paper.
Tell us when you publish
Send us the reference and we will add it to the list. Work that credits the software in an acknowledgement, a methods section, or a dataset record counts.
Research collaborations
We are always looking for new collaborations on the technical and sociotechnical aspects of digital fieldwork. If you have one in mind, tell us about it.
